China is the Biggest security concern for Australia, Defense Minister Marless said - We are with India in Ladakh dispute

Marles said on Thursday that China is Australia’s biggest security concern as it seeks to shape the world in a way it has never seen before. Australia’s Defense Minister Marles said that India has similar security concerns regarding China. Australia fully stands with India over the border dispute with China in eastern Ladakh.

In a discussion with a group of journalists, Defense Minister Marles also expressed concern over the growing defense and security cooperation between China and Russia. He also said that this cooperation could have an impact on the region. Marles said both India and Australia remain firmly committed to expanding defense and security ties. His country places India at the center of his global outlook. For Australia, China is our biggest trading partner and for India too, but China is our biggest security concern and so is India.

Marles said that India and Australia are working together to build ties in the economic as well as defense sector so that we can engage more deeply to strengthen the defense and security of both countries. Referring to the India-China skirmish that took place two years ago in the Galvan Valley of eastern Ladakh, Marles clearly said that his country stands in solidarity with India.

He said China is trying to shape the world around it in ways that were not seen before. We are feeling China’s assertive behavior over the years.
